IPCC: Fixing the Facts
Posted on Sep 30, 2013 by Steve McIntyre
Figure 1.4 of the Second Order Draft clearly showed the discrepancy between models and observations, though IPCC’s covering text reported otherwise. I discussed this in a post leading up to the IPCC Report, citing Ross McKitrick’s article in National Post and Reiner Grundmann’s post at Klimazweiberl. Needless to say, this diagram did not survive. Instead, IPCC replaced the damning (but accurate) diagram with a new diagram in which the inconsistency has been disappeared.
Here is Figure 1.4 of the Second Order Draft, showing post-AR4 observations outside the envelope of projections from the earlier IPCC assessment reports (see previous discussion here). – Click here to read the full article
Fooling Reporters is Easy, Just Ask the IPCC
Posted on October 1, 2013 by Donna Laframboise
Last Friday the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a 36-page document. Called the Summary for Policymakers, it claimed to summarize 14 chapters of new, not-yet-released material.
Those 14 chapters weren’t boiled down to 36 pages by an aloof, rigidly logical mechanical device. Instead, human beings were involved. Sixty-five IPCC personnel, out of hundreds, were chosen to perform this task. Favouritism, bias, conflict-of-interest, and political calculation could all have played a role in their selection. – Click here to read the full article
The Fantasy World Of The Warmist!
Posted on October 12, 2013 by Dennis Avery
The European Union’s top climate official says the EU is pursuing the right renewable energy policies—even if the scientists are wrong about the cause of global warming! Why?
Connie Hedegaard, the EU Climate Minister, recently told the London Telegraph,
“Say that 30 years from now, Science came back and says, “Wow, we were mistaken then, and now we have some new information so we think it is something else.” In a world with 9 billion people, even 10 billion at the middle of this century, where literally billions of global citizens will still have to get out of poverty and enter the consuming middle classes, don’t you think that anyway it makes a lot of sense to get more energy and resource efficient?”
So, the EU Climate Minister saying it doesn’t matter whether the global warming science is wrong. She seems to think that higher costing energy will help raise people out of poverty. How How does that make sense? – Click here to read the full article
EPA Attacks Only Coal Fired Power Generation
Posted on October 12, 2013 by Anton Lang (TonyfromOz)
Perhaps a somewhat obscure, yet nonetheless entirely correct title might be the following:
EPA Concedes That Climate Change Is No Real Problem And That Renewables Just Can’t Cut It
The EPA recently released its proposals to reduce CO2 emissions from power plants that burn fossil fuel to generate their power, and these are the two major conventional types of power plant, Coal Fired power, and Natural Gas (NG) Fired power.
The new proposals mean that new Coal Fired power plants can actually be constructed, provided they have CO2 emissions less than 1,100 Pounds per MegaWattHour (MWH) of power generated. A similar total of 1,000 to 1,100 Pounds/MWH has been set for NG Fired power plants as well.
This second total for NG Fired power is the key figure here upon which this whole Post is based. – Click here to read the full article

Climate Prat of the Year award 2013.
Posted on October 12, 2013 by Pointman
How quickly time flies. It seems but twelve months since we last ran the competition but I suppose as we grow older, time appears to pass more rapidly. Sweet bird of youth etc etc. Anyway, a recent address by the almost beatified Bob Geldorf to a bunch of stunned school kids telling them that they were all going to be dead by the year 2030 reminded me of how vital and socially responsible it is to have a formal mechanism in place to highlight these people acting like world-class prats. After the one hit wonder’s pronouncement, I’ll bet his own kids are now more than a bit nervous about Mondays as well.
There’s definitely been an increase in them saying that sort of thing this year, probably because they feel their Earth goddess Gaia has abandoned them to us satanic barbarians swarming over the walls of Castle Dementia, swinging clubs of reason, humour and that darkest of all forces; real world data. They seem to be popping up everywhere like those rats, called rattus rattus I think, that brought the Black Death to Europe in the middle ages, except I suppose the correct taxonomy for them would have be prattus prattus and the come fully virused up with the Green Death. – Click here to read the full article
Satellite Sea Level Flashback!!!! 3 1/2 Years Of Dropping Sea Levels!!!

I notice Steve is posting about the goofy satellite sea levels. He’s fantastic at finding old stuff! I thought I’d add to the discussion.
On new years eve, 2011 I wrote this post …..

Tractable Science and Climate Change Morality
Posted on October 11, 2013 by evilincandescentbulb
It is a matter of ethics. If we are talking about the ethical thing to do, certainly the Left should consider the benefits of energy to mankind as well as whatever risks there may be when human’s release CO2 into the atmosphere.
For example, consider an analogous situation: the benefits of UV exposure versus the risk of skin cancer. A recent initiative from a government agency, the CDC, has focused on the idea of of increasing public health by reducing our exposure to the Sun. – Click here to read the full article
Bob Fernley-Jones: Why does Arctic sea ice loss start in March at 30 below?
Posted on October 11, 2013 by tallbloke
Here’s another guest post to get the thought processes working at the weekend. This question, posed by Bob FJ is a good one. The IPCC and the cryosphere experts seem to be telling us that ‘global warming’ is responsible for the downtrend in Arctic sea ice over the last few decades, during the warm phase of the ocean oscillations since we’ve had satellite measurements of total ice area.
Why does Arctic sea ice loss start in March at ~300C below freezing?
Guest post by Bob Fernley-Jones
Not only is it sub-freezing for several months, (see fig 2) but fig 1 shows the sun very low in the sky: – Click here to read the full article
COP19 Hosts Poland “Melting Arctic Ice Offers New Opportunities For Drilling, Chasing Pirates, Terrorists & Ecologists”
Posted on October 11, 2013 by Tory Aardvark
“You could not make this up“, done to death you to have to admit, but sometimes a cliché really is the only the way to go.
You really could not make this up, the sheer ludicrous farce that the UN Climate Process has degenerated into continually plumbs new depths, or possibly heights of absurdity with COP19 hosts Poland doing a Greenpeace in reverse.
A certain post on the COP19 website has got every Green, warming alarmist, hippie and watermelon offended and indignant in the way that only the self appointed can be, for this is the best foot shooting yet: – Click here to read the full article
Ed Hoskins: The Influence of Carbon Dioxide on Temperature
Posted on October 10, 2013 by tallbloke
My thanks to Ed Hoskins, who would like a talkshop discussion concerning his analysis of the diminishing effect of increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. His article tries to show that even if CO2 has the warming power the IPCC attributes to it, most of it’s ability to cause warming is already in lay, and that adding more will have little effect. Although this study doesn’t take any account of warming allegedly ‘in the pipeline’, recent assessments by Tim Channon and Roger Andrews indicate the e-folding time of CO2 is considerably less than IPCC estimates.
The influence of Carbon Dioxide CO2 on temperature
Ed Hoskins – Oct 10 2013
The temperature increasing capacity of atmospheric CO2 is known to diminish as concentrations increase. This diminution effect is probably the reason why there was no runaway greenhouse warming caused by CO2 in earlier eons when CO2 levels were known to be at levels of several thousands ppmv. – Click here to read the full article
