Keep On Troughing!

You’ve probably already read that Tim Yeo is suing the Sunday Times for libel.

Guido has more detail:

Disgraced former Tory MP Tim Yeo is suing the Sunday Times for libel over three articles from 2013. Readers will remember the paper alleged that when Yeo was chairman of the Energy & Climate Change Select Committee, he offered two undercover journalists to act as an advocate on behalf of their fictitious solar energy company. For a £7,000 daily fee.

Mr Yeo’s counsel Desmond Browne QC says the Sunday Times acted “with a singular lack of responsibility both at the journalistic and the editorial level“:

September 2015 Global Surface (Land+Ocean) and Lower Troposphere Temperature Anomaly & Model-Data Difference Update

This post provides an update of the values for the three primary suppliers of global land+ocean surface temperature reconstructions—GISS through September 2015 and HADCRUT4 and NCEI (formerly NCDC) through August 2015—and of the two suppliers of satellite-based lower troposphere temperature composites (RSS and UAH) through September 2015. It also includes a model-data comparison. – Click here to read the full article

Analysis: depending on wind and solar energy sources is seriously misguided

Energy blog Master Resource analyses the future of world energy generation. Several scenarios are considered, but the bottom line is that the the idea of renewables as a primary energy source can never be made to work. – Click here to read the full article

The Courts & the Climate

What lessons does the environment arm of the United Nations intend to learn from the Chief Justice of Malaysia – whose court has been condemned by Amnesty International?

All US Warming, And Almost Half Of The Data, Is Fake

NOAA reports almost two degrees warming in the US, almost all of which is fake, and is derived from fake data. The red line below is the average of all of the measured station data, and the blue line is the average of all of reported station data. The US government has created a completely fake US warming trend, which the thermometers did not measure. – Click here to read the full article

Western Hudson Bay polar bear numbers are stable, no trend in ice breakup or freeze-up

This needs saying again: the latest study on Western Hudson Bay polar bears reveal the population has been stable since 2004 and there has been no significant trend in either breakup or freeze-up dates since 2001.

Environment Canada and the IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group concur that the current size of the WHB subpopulation is about 1030 bears. Documents found online indicate a new version of the 2013 WHB mark-recapture report (Lunn et al. 2013) is now available (Lunn et al. 2014) and that a new population survey is planned for 2016. A 2013 story based on false information produced by The Guardian that is still in circulation should be retracted. – Click here to read the full article

Revkin revs up NYT’s climate change concern count

Barely a day goes by when I don’t receive a grandiose “subscription” offer from the so-called (or at the very least self-proclaimed) “newspaper of record”, the New York Times. And if anyone from the NYY happens to be reading this, here’s a message from Hilary: Frankly, apart from your daily summaries (and the ten freebies per month) you really should consider how much you are willing to pay me to “subscribe”!

Notwithstanding the above, from time to time one of their articles prompts me to sit right down and write the author a letter – which, to their credit, eventually gets published. My most recent missive followed on the heels of Andrew Revkin’s paean to Hoesung Lee, a Korean economist and the newly elected Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Here’s what I wrote: – Click here to read the full article

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

A new study published by Adelaide University, claims that ocean acidification and global warming will cause a major collapse of ocean food chains.
